Marketing and Service Team make signs!
A great way to end the week with our Service and Marketing team squad learning to make a sign! We asked them a few questions about their experience;
Naomi Chewlit - Business Development Rep
What new things did you learn today?
How to make a TW 50km speed sign! And how to make it safely… I’m a klutz – lucky no injuries today. Even how to cut off the excess vinyl, effectively. 45degree angle 😃
What did you enjoy?
Learning something new and especially working with Les. I don’t often get to work with the other teams at work, so it was great. It was out of my comfort zone. I have definitely thought it was something that was too hard. But it turned out fun!
Shane Murray, Technical Manager
What new things did you learn today?
I learnt a new skill! It was interesting applying the reflective onto ali. I also learnt there is alot to prepare the ali before application. How to trim the edges and how to handle the knife. Got me thinking more about knife safety.
What did you enjoy?
Les. The way he managed us knowing we are total newbies. He was patient with us and made us feel comfortable to go at our own pace. Not to be stressed with getting things wrong.
Sue Surjupersad, Product and Marketing Manager
What new things did you learn today?
I learnt that it takes around 5min to make a 750mm Temporary Warning sign if you are experienced and about 15mins if you are not! That the ali needs to be properly cleaned so the sign is applied smoothly.That HIP reflective which is thicker than say Engineering grade can be more forgiving on any irregularities on the ali, but its best to buff the surface and clean it well
That our Signmakers are masters on knife handling! Wow! That these signs are large and a bit heavy and require proper lifting technique. My arms were sore.
What did you enjoy
100% the way Les taught us a brand new skill so gently and caringly! I don’t think I will forget it!
We are proud to have some of the best signmakers in the industry at RTL. Shoutout to our total legends Johnny and Les who have been doing this for a combined 4 decades.
