TARMAC – Traffic And Road Management Action Conference 2023 was held at Silverstream Retreat, Wellington. This year, TARMAC was about bringing our industry together to focus on safety and future innovations.

This year the RTL team attended the TARMAC conference in Wellington in force! We had a few first timers from our crew attend; James McKegg – Christchurch Branch Manager, Devon Gee – Lower South Island Sales, Kourosh Darvish - Business Improvement Lead, and Wellington locals Nicholas Mills – Sales Coordinator and Shaun Watt – Wellington/Lower Northland Sales. 

This year, we were thrilled to host two of our international suppliers, TrafFix Devices Inc and TranEx / GJI. Felipe Almanza from TrafFix Devices Inc all the way from California, USA. 

Felipe was also a keynote speaker at TARMAC where he spoke about Crash Cushions in the work Zone, Scorpion Truck Mounted Attenuators and our new product: MASH Metro Slim AKA “ Baby Scorp”. We launched the new Scorpion Attenuator at conference this year with a great response from attendees. 

Mark James and Conrad Andrews hopped across the ditch to support the launch of portable traffic lights, BarrowLights. Attendees were impressed with how simple the Barrowlights set up is, small footprint and long battery life! 

Lastly, we showcased the Instaboom Mobile Barrier with overheight sensor. This is the 3rd product in our range from SolarGates UK! You may have met Neil Simpson at last year’s conference. View all the featured products here.

It is always a great time catching up with our industry contacts and forming new relationships. Our industry is growing and rapidly changing, which gives us the opportunity to hear what is needed. It’s also time for us touch base on the foundational values of Traffic Management. 

The resounding message was keeping each other SAFE. Safety is not just a priority for us, but its an integral part of our core values. The passion displayed by all attendees was felt and was the highlight of the collective commitment to maintaining and having a SAFE working environment.
