Eight years after supplying two Ver-Mac Stealth 320X VMS Trailers to Dempsey Wood, RTL recently completed a Battery Change-Out and health check to prepare the trailers for their next major projects. The project demonstrates how ongoing servicing and planned upgrades help maximise equipment life long after the initial purchase.

Originally supplied by RTL in 2018, the Ver-Mac 320X VMS Trailers continue to support Dempsey Wood's traffic management operations across New Zealand. Used for advance warning, traffic management and public information, they've remained an important part of the company's fleet eight years on.

Recently, the trailers returned to RTL for Battery Change-Out and a comprehensive health check. AGM batteries have a finite service life and the lifespan varies depending on usage, charging conditions and maintenance. During inspection, testing confirmed the original batteries had indeed reached the end of their service life - an excellent result after eight years of operation.

All in one day, our technicians sourced the right sized maintenance-free AGM batteries to suit stealth bays, cleaned and inspected each battery compartment and fitted the new batteries. Following the upgrade, a full test was carried out including the charging system, hydraulic functions, display operation and JamLogic connectivity before handover back to the client. One of the trailers went straight back out onsite for advanced messaging on a major project in central Auckland.
