Reference Stations (RS) are primary points for measurement. They are generally located at 16 km intervals and once placed do not change. Measurement must start from 0m at every RS. The sign pictured indicates that you are on State Highway 1, at RS number 262.
Used in conjunction with Ramp Reference Station Signs (LR-RS-R), Established Route Positions (LR-ERP) and Kilometre Marker Posts (LR-KMP). Please refer to the NZTA Location Referencing Management System (LRMS) Manual for more information.
